Visitor Levy
Visitor Levy (Tourist Tax)
The Visitor Levy feature lets you charge guests a local tourist tax directly through Uplisting.
Setting Up Visitor Levy
Where to find the setting
- Go to your preferred listing
- Select the Pricing tab → Charges & fees → scroll to Visitor Levy
- Enter your rate and click Save changes

How to set the Visitor Levy rate
Note:
- The visitor levy is calculated on the nightly rate only — cleaning fees and other charges are excluded.
- The currency shown will always match the listing's currency as set in Uplisting.
Use the dropdown next to the amount field to switch between a flat fee or percentage (%).

Capping the number of taxable nights
Some jurisdictions only apply the levy for a limited number of nights per stay.
- Go to Maximum taxable nights
- Enter the number of nights the levy should apply to (e.g. Edinburgh caps at 5 nights)
- Leave this field blank if there's no cap

Choosing how the levy is collected
Use the "Collect locally (not included in online payment)" toggle to decide how the levy is paid:
- Toggle OFF → The levy is included in the guest's online payment at checkout

- Toggle ON → The levy is not charged online — you'll need to collect it locally from the guest (e.g. at check-in)

FAQs
- Does the visitor levy sync to all my booking sites?
No. It currently only syncs to direct bookings. It will not sync to other booking sites such as Airbnb or Booking.com.
- How do I add the levy on Airbnb, Booking.com**, or other OTAs connected to Uplisting?**
For now, you'll need to add the levy manually to your rates on each booking site as a regular tax.
- Do I need to set the levy up for every listing?
Yes. Visitor levy settings are configured per listing, so you'll need to repeat the setup steps for each property that requires it.
- I've made changes to my levy settings — do I need to do anything else?
Yes, make sure to click Save changes after making any updates, or your changes won't be applied.
- When does the levy start applying once I've set it up?
Once configured and saved, the levy will only apply to future direct bookings going forward.
